McDonald's Mozerella Dippers at Home, Only Better!

Updated: Dec 3, 2021

Crispy, crunchy, and oozing with mozzarella, we re-create the McDonald's Mozerella Dippers at home. Only way better! I serve mine with a spicy version of my Herby Marinara Sauce, honestly the combo when you add freshly sliced chilli to this is amazing!

Full Recipe and #YouTube Video Recipe Below:

Ingredients:

  1. Plain Flour

  2. Free Range Eggs

  3. Panko Breadcrumbs / Golden Breadcrumbs (50 /50 mix)

  4. Dried Oregano

  5. Garlic Granules

  6. Dried Parsley

  7. 250g block firm mozzarella (not in milk)

  8. Sunflower Oil for Frying

  9. Ingredients for Herby Marinara Sauce (plus fresh red chilli)

Method:

Cut the mozzarella into 1cm-thick finger-length strips, roughly the same size as the McDonald's version! (You should get 12 per 250g of mozzarella).

Place the flour, beaten egg, and breadcrumbs (50/50 mix) into three separate bowls/plates, seasoning the flour and breadcrumbs well with salt & pepper. Stir 1-2 tsp each of the dried oregano, parsley, and garlic granules into the breadcrumbs and plain flour.

Coat the dry mozzarella sticks in the flour, then dip into the beaten egg, then into breadcrumbs until well-coated, repeat this process so each mozzarella stick has two coats. Freeze these for 1 -2 hours until frozen and hard.

Whilst these are freezing make a batch of Herby Marinara Sauce, adding sliced red chilli in with the garlic, to make our spicy herby marinara dipping sauce, set aside to chill. Once the mozzarella sticks are ready, heat your oil to 160C and fry for 3-4 mins, you will know when they are ready as they will rise to the top of the oil and turn golden brown.

To Serve:

Pop some of our spicy Herby Marinara Sauce into a pot, drain your mozzarella sticks, and season well, serve with the spicy dipping sauce and a scattering of torn basil! Oh wow! #cheesepull
