Chargrilled Jumbo Spring Onions

These are a great side or sharing dish and also make a great starter for vegetarians and vegans. The beautiful flavour of the charring gives the spring onions a delicate smokey infused flavour, combined with the Cornish rock salt, extra virgin olive oil and parmesan shavings these certainly pack a flavour and taste punch!

  • Bunch of Jumbo Spring Onions

  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • Parmesan Cheese

  • Cornish Sea Salt and Black Pepper


A good griddle pan is essential to this dish, as well as a good bunch of jumbo spring onions. Wash your spring onions well, cut off the ends and carefully peel the outer layer off the spring onion. Slice the spring onions down the middle, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, sprinkle with cornish rock salt and freshly milled black pepper.

Heat up your griddle pan to a high temperature, cook and char the onions for a few minutes on each side, don't cook them too much as they will fall apart, you just want to char the outside and cook them through. Once ready set these onto a plate or bowl, drizzle with a little more extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with a little more cornish sea salt.

If you like, shave over a little parmesan, nice and thinly over the top, amazing!
